The building site was chosen for it's grand views of the Pine River valley and it's southern exposure. |

Staking the corners of the house

House Location. Looking at south side glazing and clear story.

This area has an abundance of river rock, many of which are a beautiful conglomerate type. This rock will be used in a thermal mass wall situated opposite of the windows on the south side. The rock wall will abosorb heat during the day and slowly release it at night during the winter months.

Preliminary perk test. Looks like I don't need an engineered system!
Over 1" per hour absorption. That'll save some bucks!

120 watts worth of small solar panels which supply electricity to the RV while building the house and will eventually be utilized for the house or possible greenhouse or workshop.
|

A 400 watt Southwest Wind Generator has been added to my 1440 watts worth of solar
panels. The solar panels, batteries, and inverter will be installed early in the construction process so as to provide electricity for power tools and eliminate the use of a gas generator.
